About the Position

The City of Antigo (population 8,100) seeks its next City Administrator. Serving as chief administrative officer, the City Administrator is responsible for the effective management of day-to-day municipal operations and the implementation of policies set by the Mayor and Common Council. Working within statutory and ordinance authority, the City Administrator provides professional leadership across all City departments, ensures efficient service delivery, and supports informed decision-making by elected officials. This role requires a collaborative, ethical, and highly organized leader with strong experience in municipal administration, budgeting, personnel management, and community engagement.

The Ideal Candidate

The City of Antigo seeks a City Administrator with strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills, along with the ability to advance economic development, organizational effectiveness, and community priorities that support Antigo’s long-term stability and vitality. The ideal candidate will bring a collaborative leadership style, value transparency, and demonstrate practical, solution-oriented decision-making while working closely with elected officials, staff, and residents.

The successful candidate will be highly engaged in the community—building trusted relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, regional partners, and residents. This individual will be visible, approachable, and invested in Antigo’s future, actively participating in community life and representing the City with professionalism and pride while helping guide continued growth and longterm success.

Hiring Range: $145,000-$160,000

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a closely related field required.

  • Master’s Degree in Public Administration preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience, including supervision, budgeting, human resources, and community development (planning/engineering).
