About the Position

The Village of Germantown (population 21,000) seeks it's next Village Administrator!

Serving as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Village Administrator provides executive leadership and professional management of day-to-day municipal operations. Appointed by the Village Board, the Administrator directs and coordinates all departments and personnel, implements adopted policies, and ensures efficient, effective, and responsive service delivery. The Administrator oversees department heads, serves as Chief Personnel Officer, prepares and administers the annual budget, advances strategic and operational priorities, and fosters collaborative relationships with elected officials, staff, residents, and community partners.The role encompasses the comprehensive oversight of municipal functions, including:

  • Implementing Village Board policies and ensuring enforcement of ordinances.

  • Preparing and administering the annual operating budget and supporting long-term financial planning.

  • Overseeing department directors, personnel administration, and employee relations.

  • Promoting high-quality municipal services, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Monitoring state and federal legislation impacting Village operations.

  • Coordinating legal matters and risk management activities.

  • Representing the Village in intergovernmental and regional partnerships.

  • Investigating and responding to citizen concerns.

  • Supporting economic development and community advancement initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate

The Village Board seeks a Village Administrator with strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills, along with a proven ability to guide organizational excellence and support Germantown’s continued growth and long-term fiscal stability. The ideal candidate will be an engaged and visible leader—building trusted relationships with residents, businesses, community partners, and regional stakeholders. The Village Administrator will participate in community events, and be committed to preserving Germantown’s high quality of life and advancing the Village’s future success.

Full Salary Range: $165,000–$185,000 (DOQ)

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience (5–7 years) in municipal government administration.

  • Master’s degree in Public Administration or a related field is required.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position may be considered.
