About the Position

The Village of Jackson (population 7,800) seeks a Village Clerk to serve as a key member of its leadership team, supporting the effective administration of municipal operations. Reporting to the Village Administrator, this position oversees core administrative functions including records management, elections administration, licensing and permitting, public meeting coordination, communications support, and office operations. The Clerk also supervises the Deputy Clerk and election personnel while ensuring responsive, professional service to residents, businesses, elected officials, and staff. The ideal candidate is a collaborative municipal professional with strong technical expertise, organizational leadership, customer service, and communication skills.

The Ideal Candidate

The Village of Jackson seeks a Village Clerk with strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills to support efficient municipal operations, statutory compliance, and high-quality public service. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities while working closely with elected officials, staff, residents, and community stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be approachable, responsive, and committed to public service excellence, helping ensure effective records management, elections administration, public communication, and administrative support for Village operations and leadership.

Annual Salary: $85,000

Excellent benefits package includes:

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible municipal government experience.

  • Two (2) or more years of election administration experience.

  • Associate degree in public administration, business, finance, government, or a related field; equivalent municipal experience will also be considered.

  • Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation or ability to obtain certification within three years.

  • Notary Public certification or ability to obtain certification within three months of employment.

  • Strong knowledge of Wisconsin municipal government operations, statutes, and election administration.

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, and team-building abilities.
