City of Lake Mills Appoints Brian Peterson as Public Works Director
The City of Lake Mills is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Peterson as its next Public Works Director, following last night’s confirmation by the City Council. Peterson will officially begin his role on March 10, 2026.
Peterson brings more than 25 years of municipal public works experience to Lake Mills, with a strong background in leadership, operations, budgeting, and capital planning. Most recently, he has served as Deputy Public Works Director for the City of Beloit, where he assisted in overseeing department operations, managing division budgets, coordinating capital improvements, and representing the department before elected officials and the public. His career also includes prior service as Director of Public Works and Utilities for the Village of Cottage Grove, as well as leadership roles in Verona, and Winneconne.
“Brian brings a wealth of hands-on public works leadership experience and a life-long commitment to public service,” said City Manager Drake Daily. “He understands the importance of reliable infrastructure, responsive service delivery, and building trust with residents and staff. We are excited to welcome him to Lake Mills and are confident he will be a great addition to our leadership team.”
As Public Works Director, Peterson will oversee the City’s Public Works Department, including streets, parks, facilities, forestry, and capital project management, while serving as a member of the City’s senior leadership team. “I’m honored by the opportunity to serve the City of Lake Mills,” said Peterson. “Lake Mills has a strong reputation for community pride, collaboration, and quality public services. I look forward to working with City leadership, staff, and residents to maintain and enhance the infrastructure and services that make it a great place to live and work.”
