City of Sun Prairie Hires Jon Landsverk to Serve as Public Works Director

Sun Prairie, Wis. (August 7, 2026): The City of Sun Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Landsverk as its next Public Works Director. Landsverk brings more than a decade of progressive municipal leadership experience in facilities management, infrastructure, capital improvement planning, emergency operations, and team development.

Landsverk currently serves as the City of Sun Prairie's Facilities Manager, where he has led facility maintenance and custodial operations, advanced long-range asset management strategies, and managed significant capital improvement projects, including City Hall renovations, LED lighting upgrades, and the historic Water Tower renovation. He has also played a leadership role in emergency preparedness, sustainability initiatives, and cross-departmental collaboration while supervising a high-performing facilities team. Prior to joining Sun Prairie, Landsverk served as Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Madison Parks Department, overseeing operations across more than 280 parks and facilities and managing multi-million-dollar operating and capital budgets.

"Jon has consistently demonstrated collaborative leadership, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to public service," said City Administrator Aaron Oppenheimer. "His knowledge of our organization, experience managing complex municipal operations, and ability to build strong relationships across departments have prepared him to lead our Public Works Department. We are looking forward to his next chapter with the City of Sun Prairie."

As Public Works Director, Landsverk will provide strategic leadership for the City's Public Works Department, overseeing streets, stormwater, fleet, facilities, and refuse and recycling services. This position is responsible for advancing infrastructure investments, leading capital improvement planning, supporting organizational excellence, and ensuring the delivery of reliable, high-quality public services that meet the needs of Sun Prairie's rapidly growing community.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Sun Prairie as Public Works Director," said Landsverk. "This organization has an outstanding team that is committed to delivering exceptional public services every day, and I look forward to contributing to the City's continued growth and success."
