Town of Genesee Appoints Jonathan Schroeder to Serve as Superintendent of Public Works

Town of Genesee, Wis. (August 27, 2026): The Town of Genesee is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan “Jon” Schroeder as its next Superintendent of Public Works, bringing more than a decade of municipal public works experience and an extensive background in construction and heavy equipment operations.

Schroeder currently serves as Streets Foreman for the Village of Waterford Department of Public Works, where his responsibilities include staff supervision, highway and grounds maintenance, snow and ice control, utility infrastructure inspections, and the operation of a variety of heavy equipment. Before joining Waterford in 2022, he spent more than eight years with the Cuba Township Road District in Illinois, gaining extensive experience in roadway maintenance, paving, drainage, traffic control, snow removal, and equipment operations.

“Jon brings the combination of hands-on experience, technical knowledge, and leadership approach we were looking for in our next Superintendent of Public Works,” Town Administrator Jeff Herrmann said. “We’re excited to welcome him and look forward to his leadership of the department.”

Schroeder holds an associate degree in Construction Management and is a certified heavy equipment operator. He also holds a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsements, along with certifications in OSHA, CPR/First Responder and AED, chainsaw safety, and small water systems through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Schroeder also serves as a volunteer firefighter.

As Superintendent, Schroeder will lead the Town’s Highway Department and oversee road maintenance and construction, parks and cemetery operations, snow and ice control, fleet and equipment management, departmental budgeting, infrastructure planning, and public works personnel.
