Larry Bierke Appointed City Administrator of the City of Beaver Dam
Beaver Dam, Wis. (August 18, 2025): The City of Beaver Dam is pleased to announce the appointment of Lawrence “Larry” F. Bierke, MPA, as its next City Administrator. Bierke will commence his duties on September 16, 2025.
“On behalf of the City Council, I’m thrilled to welcome Larry to Beaver Dam,” said Mayor Bobbi Marck. “He brings extensive municipal leadership experience, a strong track record of partnerships with staff, elected officials and community organizations, and a results-oriented approach that will serve our residents and businesses well.”
Bierke joins Beaver Dam with more than two decades of executive local government leadership experience, including service as County Administrator for Iowa County, City Manager for the City of Platteville, Village Administrator for the Village of Mount Horeb, and City Administrator for the City of Hillsboro. His portfolio includes leading complex capital projects, economic development partnerships, organizational budgeting and staffing.
Career highlights include:
Leveraging $1 million in ARPA funds to catalyze a $25 million countywide broadband investment and overseeing construction of a $30 million Law Enforcement Center in Iowa County.
Managing recovery operations as Emergency Management Director during tornado events in Platteville, securing $4+ million in grants, and negotiating major developments such as the $44 million Emmi Roth cheese plant, $30 million student housing PILOT, and $20 million mixed-use project.
Creating and managing Tax Incremental Districts, implementing a comprehensive staffing plan that saved more than $600,000 over three years in the City of Platteville.

Bierke holds two master’s degrees in public administration and urban planning from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and two bachelor’s degrees in public administration and political science from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. He is active in professional and civic associations, including local community organizations.
