City of Sun Prairie Appoints Nadine Strandlie, SHRM-CP, as Human Resources Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sun Prairie, Wis. (October 3, 2026) — The City of Sun Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Nadine Strandlie, SHRM-CP, as Human Resources Director. Strandlie brings public-sector human resources experience and firsthand knowledge of the City’s workforce and operations to the role.

Strandlie joined the City in March 2026 as its HR Payroll and Benefits Specialist, supporting employees and department leaders with payroll, benefits, leave, retirement, and policy administration. Previously, she served as a Human Resources Generalist with the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, a 140-employee public utility. Following the departure of its HR Director, she independently assumed all human resources duties, advising organizational leaders and managing employee relations, recruitment, benefits, compliance, and departmental priorities.

“Nadine has already demonstrated her ability to build strong relationships across the organization and navigate complex human resources issues with professionalism and sound judgment,” said City Administrator Aaron Oppenheimer. “Her knowledge of our organization, combined with her public-sector HR experience and commitment to employees, will allow her to step into this leadership role with a strong understanding of both our current needs and opportunities for the future.”

Strandlie brings more than seven years of progressively responsible human resources experience and more than a decade of service in government and higher education. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Southern New Hampshire University and associate degrees in Human Resource Management and Business Management from Madison College. She earned her SHRM Certified Professional credential in 2025.

“I am honored to continue serving the City of Sun Prairie in this new role,” said Strandlie. “I look forward to supporting our employees and the community through fair, equitable, and transparent HR practices that build trust and contribute to a positive workplace culture.”

A Sun Prairie resident and native of Germany, Strandlie is fluent in German, French, and English. As Human Resources Director, she will join the City’s executive leadership team and oversee recruitment, employee and labor relations, classification and compensation, benefits, organizational development, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.
