City of Washburn Hires Greg Ledin as Public Works Director

The City of Washburn is pleased to announce the hiring of Greg “Curlie” Ledin as its new Public Works Director. Ledin brings more than two decades of municipal operations leadership to the position, including extensive experience overseeing infrastructure projects, utilities, and community services.

“Greg’s long-standing experience in public works and his commitment to northern Wisconsin communities make him an excellent fit for Washburn,” said Mayor Mary Motiff. “His practical expertise, collaborative approach, and dedication to quality service will help ensure the City continues to meet the infrastructure and maintenance needs of our residents.”

Ledin served the City of Ashland for the last 20 years in roles including Street Foreman and Interim Operations Manager, where he led teams responsible for streets, water, sewer, stormwater, and parks operations. He managed departmental budgets, coordinated infrastructure improvements, and collaborated closely with contractors, engineers, and city officials to deliver safe and efficient public services.

“I’m honored to join the Washburn team and serve a community that I care deeply about,” said Ledin. “I look forward to building on the City’s strong foundation and ensuring that our infrastructure continues to meet residents’ needs today and in the future.”

A native of northern Wisconsin, Ledin holds a Heavy Equipment Certificate and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from Escanaba Truck Driving School. He is also the owner of Grandpa Hebb’s Concrete & Landscaping in Ashland, where he has managed local construction and maintenance projects for more than two decades.
